Dr. Erika Martin fell in love with fish and all aquatic things at a very early age. In second grade she declared that she was going to be a marine biologist, and voraciously read every field guide she could get her hands on. Now she is keenly interested in stream ecology, metacommunity ecology, life-history and conservation biology. A good deal of her work has focused on how fish community diversity, density and size influence ecosystem properties. Doc Martin has taught upper level biology and ecology courses at Kansas State, was awarded the EIDRoP GK-12 fellowship and was a resident scientist for Junction City High School in Kansas. She resides in Kansas.
