Earthquake fish

This news story from Taiwan is the kind of stuff that gets Fish Nerds excited. The report is of an oarfish caught in Taiwan waters. According to the newscast, the fish is often called the “King of Herrings” and is called the “earthquake fish” because locals believe it is an omen for seismic activity. This is the same fish that has shown up twice in California in the last few weeks. Does this mean the West Coast of the US should brace itself? All fear the King of Herring!
